Drugs and the Olympics.

In this years Summer Olympics they are going to be major changes with the drug testing portion. Summer Olympics this year are going to be held in London, England from July 27 to August 12, 2012.

Fours years ago at the Olympics in Beijing there was about 4,500 blood and urine that were taken. They had 150 scientists on site 24-7. This year they suspect to take around 6,250 samples of blood and urine. The list of drugs that are banned cover 10 to 15 full pages and there is already hundreds of drugs that are already banned.

After the Olympics are over they keep their samples for another eight years of which they re-test them so if someone wins a medal from the previous Olympics it could be wiped away if the find any drugs in the blood or urine.

Nuke!

This Thursday India launched a nuclear missile that has the capability to reach the cities of Beijing and Shanghai which are located is China. India is saying that this is the first step to being not only a regional power but also a world power.

Agni-V is what the nuke was named. It has a range of 5,000 kilometers which is equal to 3,100 miles. This missile has to complete several test before it gets placed in Indias arsenal and that wont be until a few years. Officials stated, this launch is proof that India has taken a place beside the world's most advansed powers.

Even though this may not pretain to us, the United States specifically, it may in the future.

Snow, Snow, Snow!

Strangely parts of Arizona are covered in snow. Which ended up closing highways, schools, and 180 miles of Interstate 40 in northern Arizona. The snow has buried 2/3 of the state. A resident from Arizona stated,
"The other day it was 65 degrees, next day it is snowing, so it's been crazy, it killed a lot of people's travel plans because the highways are a mess." (Sounds like our weather) The temperatures in Arizona usually range from 90 degrees in December to 130 degrees in July.

I find it very strange how they are getting so much snow and we have none. Shouldn't it be the opposite?

Titanic = Moon????

Researchers: Rare astronomical alignment may have doomed Titanic

There has been new research on the Titanic on how it sank. Texas State University thinks that the sun and moon has something to do with the Titanic sinking. Two members of the physics faculty Donald Olson and Russell Doescher teamed up with Roger Sinnott who is a editor at Sky & Telescope magazine. They wanted to determine how the iceberg stuck in April 14, 1912. There were more then 1,500 people who died that evening when the iceberg struck the ship. Researchers theorize that the iceberg came from Greenland and was hit by the Titanic on the coast on Labrador or Newfoundland in early January 1912.

Here is were the moon comes into play. On January 4th the moon was close to being a full moon and was at its closest distance to Earth in 1,400 years. They also say that the sun was at its closest distance all year. With the sun and moon being that close to Earth it created a very strong "spring tide". Which in turn could have re floated the icebergs to the northwestern Atlantic coast, the researchers believe.

But you never know... : /

Happy Birthday!

Today is the day that we celebrate Heinrich Rudolf Hertz 155th birthday!!!!

Heinrich Rudolf Hertz was born on February 22, 1857 and died on January 1, 1894. Hertz was a German physic who made the electromagnetic theory of light more clear and modified, which had been originally discovered by James Clerk Maxwell. He was the first to conclusively prove the existence of electromagnetic waves by engineering instruments to transmit and receive radio pulses using experimental procedures that ruled out all other known wireless phenomena. The scientific unit of frequency "hertz" was named in his honor.

Happy Birthday man! :)
